Every business you support keeps one Growth Record. Mothusi uses it to find the ones that qualify, plan their support and show your funders what changed.

For banks, agencies and foundations running programmes for small businesses.

1   Design your programme

Decide which businesses you'll help and what should improve.

Choose the stages of growth you want to support, the improvements businesses need to make and the problems you'll help them overcome, then publish your programme.

The programme's target before it is published: move Forming suppliers to signed-off Operating, who qualifies, the five proofs each business must produce, and what happens when a proof is missing

2   Find participants

Know which businesses qualify before they apply.

Mothusi checks the business information already held in each Growth Record against your requirements, showing who qualifies, who's close and what's missing.

Screening 1,247 authorised files against nine requirements: 48 meet all nine, 31 are one requirement away and are told which one, and the 48 are invited today

3   Applications

Businesses apply with the Growth Record they've already built.

You start with their business information, progress and documents; Mothusi reads any extra answers your programme asks for and points out what needs a closer look.

Thabo Mokoena's request arrives with what is already known about Mokoena Construction: registration, tax clearance, three of seven first-stage requirements signed off, the existing record reused and not rebuilt; Accept, Decline, Message

4   Contracts

Get contracts signed as businesses join.

Use your own contract and let accepted applicants sign on their phones, with a clear view of who's signed and who needs a reminder.

Contracts: forty-five of 48 signed, three sent and waiting with the days counted, the contract used, a reminder for the two ticked

5   Monthly plans

Build on what each business has already completed.

Mothusi drafts a monthly plan from your programme goals, then checks each Growth Record so you can confirm the remaining work and add relevant learning and mentoring.

The plan, one card per month with the work, a course and an event, how many of the 48 did each, and one business confirmed into it with what is already on file ticked

6   Mentoring

Give businesses guidance based on their own progress and priorities.

Choose mentors from your network, Mothusi's own mentoring, or both; Mothusi remembers each business's information and previous conversations when it guides the next step.

Mentors: who carries the load, who is waiting for a match

7   Targeted support

Match the support to the reason a business is struggling.

Mothusi groups businesses by what they can't complete and why, so you can arrange the training, specialist help or funding they need.

Twenty-one businesses stuck on the same thing for five different reasons, the response for each cause, and six weeks later thirteen cleared and signed off

8   Programme management

See which businesses are progressing and which need support.

Track progress towards your programme goals, follow up on overdue work and pending decisions, and manage sessions and finances in one place.

Delivery control at month four: forty-four on plan, nine blocked on proof, five with no movement in 45 days, the exception queue sorted by movement risk, and the support tied to the gap it should move

9   Results and reporting

Show funders what improved in the businesses you supported.

Mothusi uses changes in each business's Growth Record to explain what's improved, separating results reported by the business from those checked and signed off by a reviewer.

Results for the funder: what improved by outcome, reported by the business beside signed off by a named reviewer, one line per business, coverage and what was set aside
